U.S. Marshals Tommy Lee Jones returns as U.S. Deputy Marshal Sam Gerard – the role he won an Academy Award for in The Fugitive! This time, Gerard must track down Mark Sheridan played by Wesley Snipes, an escaped criminal wanted for a double homicide. Gerard and his team have finally caught the Conroy brothers, but it wasn’t done without excessive force. As a way to reprimand Gerard, his boss makes him personally escort the pair back to Tennessee on a prison transport plane. But they’re not the only criminals on board that night. Mark Sheridan, wanted for the double murder of two Federal officers, is also present. The flight goes off without a hitch and all is well. That is, until another prisoner tries to shoot Sheridan with a zip gun. Sheridan deflects the bullet, but when it hits the window, the cabin depressurizes…setting off a chain of events that ultimately leads to a horrific plane crash. Amidst the fiery wreckage, Sheridan helps save other prisoners, dragging them to safety…until he escapes into the night. Yes, he wants to escape, but not for the reasons everyone imagines. Mark Sheridan wants answers, and he doesn’t trust anyone else to get them! Now, Sam Gerard calls for a manhunt to track down this escapee and the State Department makes finding Sheridan their number one priority. Gerard has every intention of finding Mark, but he wonders what makes him so invaluable to the U.S. Government. Mark Sheridan has always maintained his innocence. But as any law enforcement officer will tell you – don’t they all? Still, as Gerard closes in on Sheridan, he gets the sinking feeling that maybe…just maybe…this time it’s true. As Gerard digs deeper and deeper, he begins to uncover evidence that Sheridan is not what he seems…and that a simple set up may actually be a cover for an international conspiracy!
