Horizons West Robert Ryan, Julie Adams, Rock Hudson, James Arness, Raymond Burr, and Dennis Weaver star! Directed by Budd Boetticher and featuring a powerful performance by Robert Ryan, this Western is a gripping tale about the cost of choices—and the perils of revenge. Two brothers return home from the Civil War to the Hammond family’s Texas ranch. One brother, Neil, dreams of working hard and living a quiet life on the spread. But his brother, Dan, returns from the war feeling angry and restless. Now power hungry, he soon realizes that a quiet life on the family ranch will not help him realize his ambitious plans. With hopes of building a business of his own, Dan gets a loan of $1,000 from a friend to use as seed money. But instead of investing it in his new business, Dan is lured in by a get-rich-quick scheme. When wealthy carpetbagger Cord Hardin invites him to play poker, Dan bets it all, hoping to win as much as $5,000. But instead, he loses it all—and Cord not only beats him, but he humiliates him too. Seething with anger and bent on revenge, Dan assembles a rustling gang. The men he chooses are deserters and scoundrels. Together, they steal cattle from Cord and the other ranchers. Soon, Dan earns enough money from cattle rustling and shady land deals to build his fortune and influence. The more Dan has, the more he wants, and he’s earned many enemies along the way. Nobody believes his claim that he built his fortune legitimately in New Orleans. Among the mob of people who want to see him brought to justice is the new Marshal—his brother, Neil. Neil will do anything to keep his brother on the right side of the law. But now, he wonders: is murder and mayhem between him and Dan a foregone conclusion? You may also like...
