Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Paul Newman, Robert Redford, and Katharine Ross star in this iconic, Oscar-winning movie that is considered one of the best Westerns ever made.

In Wyoming, circa 1900, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid are well-liked outlaws. Butch is the leader of The Hole in the Wall Gang, so named for his hideout in the Wyoming mountains. Butch is the ideas man, while Sundance is the action man, with legendary shooting skills.

After a member of his gang challenges his leadership, Butch lays claim to the idea of robbing a Union Pacific Flyer train twice – since the return train should be safe and holding more money.

The first robbery goes as planned, and Butch and Sundance are delighted. Everything has gone well, and they anticipate a big cash payout in the near future.

But first, they pay a visit to a nearby friend: Etta Place. Etta is officially Sundance’s “girl,” although it’s clear that Butch has a big sweet spot for her too. Butch, Sundance, and Etta are happy to see each other, and the future seems so very bright.

That is, until the second robbery goes so very wrong…and a second train arrives with a posse on board that is set on finding—and killing—Butch and Sundance.

No matter where they go—over rocky mountain terrain or across raging rivers—they just cannot shake these men. “Who are those guys?” Butch wonders, as the posse continues to shadow their every move.

When the duo finally shakes them, they get help from Etta and they all run away to Bolivia. A few bank robberies lift their spirits, but also gain the attention of the Bolivian authorities. Can they go straight and live a quiet life…or is that too much to ask of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?
