Douglass graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Animal Science and a minor in Business in 2012, his fine leatherwork paying for his tuition, then, returned to his small town of Rocksprings, Texas to open his shop. When not at the bench working leather, you may find him ranching, riding horses, playing guitar, writing western/cowboy poetry, and enjoying the simple joys of small-town life. He’s graced the stage of Carnegie Hall and stages across America and Asia. He’s received the 1995 National Heritage Award presented by the National Endowment for the Arts, among other prestigious honors. He produces about 20 instruments a year, most of which are guitars. Currently, there is a seven-year waiting list for one of Henderson’s guitars, known for their beauty, as well as, their volume, rich tone and resonance.
