8. Ruby Jean and Joe

While this made-for-TV film may not break any new ground, it delivers an emotional punch as Selleck portrays an aging cowboy coming to terms with the most human of problems—growing old. The 99-minute runtime can feel like a slow trot, but Selleck’s performance as a rodeo cowboy nearing the end of his eight-second ride is powerful at times. It’s not a film for every occasion, but any cowboy who has watched his best days fade into the sunset will relate to the painful act of acceptance.

“Nobody can rodeo forever. There comes a time when your bones just don’t bend the way they used to.”

Well said, Tom.
