Chislic is probably the one dish most identified with South Dakota. Visitors and people from other areas of the country might think Chislic is just shish kebab. Not so! While the two savory appetizers are similar, the differences are in the delicious details.
Meats, such as pork, beef, chicken or lamb, arranged alternately with vegetables on a skewer, and grilled.
A much simpler concept! Chislic is made up of half-inch cubes of meat. Depending on where you are in the great state of South Dakota, the meat might be mutton, venison or beef. The meat is either: marinated, dipped in batter and deep fried; simply deep fried, or grilled, and served on a plate with toothpicks.
