Inspiration Ministries Announces Retirement of Ron Shuping

Shuping, Executive Vice President of Programming, will retire on February 28th, 2010.
Indian Land, SC - Inspiration Ministries today announced that Ron Shuping, Executive Vice President of Programming, will retire on February 28th, 2010. The announcement was made by Bill Airy, COO of Inspiration Ministries.
"Ron has had a storied career that spans 40 years in the television and communications industry," said Airy. "His guidance and integrity during the last 11 years has been instrumental to our leadership position in inspirational programming and in the development of content for the faith community.
"During the last 10 months alone, Ron has been a vital part of making programming lineup changes for our flagship network INSP - The Inspiration Network that have helped overall network viewership more than double. He has laid a solid foundation that we will continue to follow as we break new ground in inspirational programming."
Shuping joined Inspiration Ministries in 1998 as Vice President, Programming. He was promoted to Executive Vice President, Programming in 2006. During his tenure, Shuping helped develop a variety of standout shows and specials that spanned the faith genre, including Discovery Jones Expeditions, Bedbug Bible Gang, Gospel Music Southern Style, I Gospel, Celebration Series, Reel INSP, Real Answers, and more recently Speechless: Silencing the Christians and Fontana: Fighting for America.
Prior to joining Inspiration Ministries, Shuping was Director of Production Services for WSOC, the ABC affiliate in Charlotte. While there, he was part of the team that led the station to its position as market leader, and contributed greatly to the station maintaining this position. Prior to working at WSOC, Shuping was Vice President of Communications for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. He also was Planning and Development Supervisor for Jefferson-Pilot Communications following work as creative director at Jefferson-Pilot's WBTV, the CBS affiliate in Charlotte.
Shuping earned a B.A. from the University of North Carolina in radio, television and motion pictures. He and his wife, Bonnie, have been married for 37 years and have a son and daughter, both grown and married.
