INDIAN LAND, S.C. - INSP - The Inspiration Network, the fastest-growing inspirational network in the U.S., today announced that it is bowing a new reality TV series called "Thunder Road." The series will debut on Saturday, October 18th at 11:00p.m. EST. The series follows leading ministry personality Ben Cerullo as he shares the faith message and a glimpse into his life during trips to some of the most overlooked and underserved regions of the world.
"'Thunder Road' is a groundbreaking program," said Bill Airy, COO of INSP's parent company The Inspiration Networks. "In fact, it establishes an entirely new model of inspirational television. We've taken the daring step of bringing viewers literally behind the scenes. They won't just see conferences and meetings but also the real story of what goes on behind the scenes, with all the human elements. They'll see team members' goofing off and having fun, their moments of vulnerability, and the intensity with which they face challenges. But they'll also see the sincerity of their faith and how they seek spiritual solutions. This is being produced with gut-level honesty."
Airy explained that one of the first episodes focuses on Mexico. "'Thunder Road' takes viewers into the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, a place where religious unease and conflict run rampant. Crime and extreme poverty also are issues. The resulting encounters are heart-warming and disturbing, eye-opening and inspirational. Viewers will share this experience in a dynamic way, and gain a whole new insight into the world and their own lives."
Airy said that more reality-based programs are planned for INSP and The Inspiration Networks' various distribution platforms.
"It is our joy to provide the broader faith community with a wide variety of traditional teaching and preaching programs, as well as programs for teens, kids, and inspirational entertainment programs. But 'Thunder Road' represents something brand new. It is an example of the programming models we're developing. It responds to the hunger for new genres, and new ways of expressing faith. Our satellite and cable TV viewers can expect to see more programs of this type in the months to come."
Named by leading faith publication Charisma magazine as one of the "30 Emerging Voices" that will lead the church in the next decade, Cerullo stepped from behind the cameras at Steelroots, the leading inspirational content provider for youth and young adults, to start Ben Cerullo Ministries in 2007. Under his leadership, Steelroots launched the popular programs "Mixx Master's Lounge," "Top 10 Countdown," "The Steelroots Show" and a number of specials featuring well-known action sports figures, along with the content-driven website www.steelroots.com. "Thunder Road" is Cerullo's first program since launching Ben Cerullo Ministries. The series also will be available online atwww.bencerullo.com.
INSP is available in more than 54 million U.S. households via more than 2,400 cable systems and on DIRECTV channel 364 and DISH Network channel 259. "Thunder Road" also will air on i-Lifetv - Inspirational Life Television. Internationally, the program will air on Inspiration Network International reaching over 70 million homes worldwide.
