"Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, 'This is the finger of God.' But Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the LORD had said." - Exodus 8:19 NASB
The Finger of God
The discovery made headlines worldwide: New research seemed to shed light on the purpose of life, explain creation, and provide proof of God's existence. What had been found?
Those believing in the "big bang" theory have had a problem. As one media story reported, this theory suggests that "equal amounts of matter and antimatter should have been created." If this were true, existence would be impossible. Yet, clearly, life exists. What a puzzle scientists have faced!
Recent tests conducted in a "miniature universe" revealed that there was slightly more matter than antimatter. These results caused a furor. Were the scientists ready to conclude that God existed? That there was a divine purpose in creation? No. But at least one theorist concluded that this evidence suggested there was a God and that they were seeing confirmation of His creative power.
The reluctance of many scientists to admit God's existence reminds us of the reaction of the magicians in Egypt to the miracles performed by Moses. They, too, were skeptical, but after they saw miraculous power at work, they were forced to conclude that God was real.
Christians should have no doubts, for the evidence of God's handiwork is everywhere. Paul reminded the Romans that "since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made" (Romans 1:20).
Today, you have a choice: You can be like the scientists who doubt and are skeptical, or you can believe. Reach out with faith. Trust in God Almighty. Let Him prove His creative power in your life. Let the evidence of His power flow through you, so that others may see and believe.
Father, thank You for the wonder of creation. I desire to witness more of Your power in my life. Use me to impact others and be Your witness. In Jesus' name. Amen.
